GAI is an established multi‑disciplined engineering firm with growth opportunities in Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The role is hybrid; it can be fully remote for the right candidate. The Power Business Unit focuses on energy, institutional, industrial, and manufacturing clients. Job Duties Plan, design, and facilitate civil engineering project design tasks such as site grading and drainage design; access road design; erosion and sediment pollution control design; stormwater management design; report preparation; and permitting. Manage technical work, staff planning, budget/schedule management, scope change management, quality assurance/peer reviews, report writing, staff mentorship, and client coordination. Prepare proposals, including scope and budget development and interdisciplinary coordination. Write site reports, narratives, meeting minutes, and project memorandums. Collaborate with other engineering leads to schedule resource and QA/QC peer reviews. Conduct field condition assessments independently. Perform bid and construction phase services, responding to bidder questions, contractor requests for information, submittal reviews, site visits, and verifying change order documentation. Hold a current, valid driver’s license. Professional Engineering License preferred; multiple state P.E. licenses a plus. Travel to other offices, meet with clients, and attend project‑specific meetings. General Characteristics Apply thorough knowledge of current engineering principles and practices. Use progressively acquired expertise to resolve critical issues and unique conditions. Stay informed of new methods and developments, recommending new practices or changes in project emphasis. Lead projects of moderate complexity and scope or lead a major project. Analyze complex problems across specialty engineering areas. Analyze ethical dilemmas to determine appropriate courses of action. Minimum Years of Experience 5 – 10 years’ experience in the relevant field. Education B.S. or M.S. Engineering Certification / Licensure Professional Engineer (P.E.) License; reciprocity in multiple states (preferred, not required). Technical Responsibilities Occasionally serve as the technical advisor for the practice in advanced concepts and methods in an assigned area. Keep informed of new developments and requirements, recommending changes in projects or applications. Occasionally develop new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products. Value and analyze sustainable performance of complex engineering projects from a systems perspective. Project and Task Management Occasionally plan, schedule, and coordinate preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects or manage an entire project. Analyze project management plans for complex engineering projects. Understand project delivery uncertainties and use risk‑management principles to address them. Review operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures. Management Responsibility Supervise a staff of engineers and technicians. Receive administrative supervision with broad general objectives and limits. Provide continued mentoring experience to senior staff. Integrate professional attitudes relevant to engineering practice and foster creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability in staff. Communication Skills Apply principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications. Represent area of specialty within the practice and liaise with related individuals and practices. Interact routinely with practice leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others. Integrate concepts of effective teamwork and leadership. Why GAI?
