Assistant Principal

Position Overview The Assistant Principal’s chief responsibility is to promote the educational well‑being of each student within the school. The role reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Principal to manage instructional duties, staff development, student affairs, and school operations. Essential Functions Assist in overall school administration and support teachers, students, and parents. Act as School‑Level Standardized Testing Coordinator: administer and oversee NWEA MAP, pre/post testing, JH midterms and finals, and manage educational technology (PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Learning Farm, BrainPop, etc.). Develop and troubleshoot the COW schedule and technology concerns; train new teachers on system usage. Coordinate attendance, truancy, and emergency operations plans; serve as attendance and truancy officer. Review lesson plans for Junior High and special area teachers; schedule duty, dismissal, and support staff. Collect and assess TitleI tutor and paraprofessional time logs. Oversee student discipline, document incidents, and maintain school‑wide incident reports in PowerSchool or Infinite Campus. Schedule, train, and supervise school and athletic events; maintain uniform and equipment inventories; ensure compliance with CAA guidelines. Lead Community Education Programs (LKC, KEEP, Non‑school Days, Summer Days, clubs), including staffing, scheduling, registration, and discipline. Coordinate the EL program: maintain EL list, supervise test proctors, ensure AZELLA placement, manage consent and withdrawal forms, and monitor SEI instruction. Provide supervisory and managerial responsibilities: hire, train, evaluate, and remediate teaching and support staff; conduct annual evaluations. Qualities, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and conflict‑resolution skills. In‑depth knowledge of school operations and educational policy. Program development and implementation experience. Effective communication with diverse communities. Analytical, problem‑solving, and detail‑oriented mindset. Leadership ability to develop staff and foster a professional learning community. Flexible schedule to accommodate school needs. Qualifications Master’s degree in education and currently pursuing an administrative certificate. Three or more years of teaching experience across a variety of grade levels. Background Checks Pass a criminal history background check. Maintain a valid IVP LevelOne Fingerprint Clearance Card. Physical & Travel Requirements Occasional lifting of objects up to 25pounds.
