Production Technician

This role focuses on the assembly, testing, and inspection of mechanical and electronic components, including battery packs, within a production environment. The Production Technician ensures products meet quality standards, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains a safe, organized workspace while collaborating closely with other team members across multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electronic components accurately and efficiently according to work instructions and specifications.
• Handle electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive components with proper ESD awareness and control practices.
• Conduct product testing on battery packs, working safely around heavy-duty electrical equipment and following all test procedures.
• Participate actively in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.
• Implement and maintain 5S standards in the work area to ensure cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
• Perform detailed in-process inspections to verify product quality and identify any defects or non-conformances.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all aspects of assembly, testing, and documentation.
• Lift and handle items up to 20 kg safely as part of routine production activities.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and limited troubleshooting activities as required to support smooth production operations.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to other personnel to help resolve issues and maintain production flow.
• Train new technicians when necessary, sharing best practices and ensuring adherence to procedures and quality standards.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of standardized work instructions and related documentation.
• Ensure all work is performed safely by following company safety policies, procedures, and best practices at all times.
• Inspect and maintain all tools and equipment required for the job to ensure they remain in safe and reliable working condition.
• Support general production activities such as general labor, assembly line work, compounding, packaging, and other tasks as required.
• Remain flexible and willing to take on other duties as needed to support team and production goals.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a production technician or in a closely related production role.
• High school diploma or equivalent as a minimum educational requirement.
• Proven experience in the assembly of mechanical and electronic components.
• Ability to work safely around heavy-duty electrical equipment, particularly in relation to battery pack testing.
• Awareness of and adherence to ESD handling practices for sensitive components.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
• Ability to work in a multi-shift position and adapt to varying schedules as required by production demands.
• Good verbal and written English skills to understand instructions, complete documentation, and communicate clearly.
• Proficiency in the use of computers for basic data entry, documentation, and accessing work instructions.
• Familiarity with the principles of Lean Manufacturing and an understanding of the value of continuous improvement.
• Capability to perform routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Physical ability to lift and handle up to 20 kg as part of regular job duties.

• Experience in general production environments, including assembly lines, compounding, packaging, and general labor tasks.
• Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining 5S practices in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated attention to detail in inspection, documentation, and adherence to standardized work instructions.
• Experience providing technical assistance and guidance to colleagues in a production environment.
• Prior involvement in training or mentoring new technicians or team members.
• Comfort working with standardized work instructions and contributing to their development and improvement.
• Flexibility to take on additional or changing duties to support evolving production needs.

The role is based in a production and assembly facility focused on mechanical and electronic components, including battery packs. The environment emphasizes Lean Manufacturing and 5S, so work areas are kept clean, organized, and efficient. The position operates in a multi-shift structure, requiring flexibility to work different shifts as needed. You will use a combination of hand tools, production equipment, testing devices, and computer systems to perform assembly, testing, inspection, and documentation tasks. The work involves standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, and safely lifting up to 20 kg as part of regular duties.

This is a Contract position based out of Bellingham, WA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
