As part of the nation's largest integrated health care system, VA physicians fulfill a noble calling-to serve those who have served our country. *Position Overview* The Orthopedic Surgeon is a specialty professional in the care of musculoskeletal conditions, evaluating and treating patients needing orthopedic diagnosis and/or medical or surgical intervention for palliation or cure. You will provide consultation and care for patients within the Department of Surgery, with assigned OR and clinic time. The Surgical Department prioritizes safety and well-being, actively addressing workplace concerns for all staff. *Key Duties and Responsibilities* * Provide direct patient care in outpatient clinic, inpatient setting, operating room, Emergency Department, and other locations as needed * Evaluate and treat musculoskeletal diseases and injuries, performing surgical and medical interventions * Conduct initial histories and physical exams, order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies * Participate in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive care * Supervise and mentor residents, students, and physician extenders * Participate in fair, equitable on-call rotation, including daytime, after-hours, weekends, and holidays * Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record * Maintain a safe workplace and engage in department quality improvement initiatives * Perform other duties as assigned by Chief of Surgery or facility leadership *Outstanding Benefits & Retirement* * *Salary:* $325,000-$365,000 per year * *Health Insurance:* Medical, dental, vision, and prescription (coverage begins Day 1) * *Retirement:* * *Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS):* Government pension * *Thrift Savings Plan (TSP):* Retirement savings with up to 5% VA matching * *Social Security benefits* * *Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP):* Up to $200,000 loan repayment * *Paid Leave:* 26 days annual, 13 days sick, 11 federal holidays, up to 5 CME days * *Malpractice Coverage:* Free, including tail coverage * *CME Reimbursement:* Financial support for professional development *Live and Work in Fresno, CA* Enjoy affordable living, excellent schools, outdoor activities, and easy access to Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks.
