Assistant Coordinator - Community Learning Center

The Assistant Coordinator (AC) Community Learning Center (CLC) assists the CLC Coordinator through the following: coordinating, implementing, managing, and sustaining integrated programs focusing on academics, health, social services, and youth and community development; acting as a liaison between schools and community, and assisting in managing the CLC site and overseeing out-of-school adult, early childhood, and community education opportunities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Job-related experience working at a non-profit agency in community outreach/community organizing, event coordination, or as an Administrative/Executive Assistant
3. Experience scheduling activities, meetings, or events
4. Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced using data-based software
6. Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications
7. Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, scanner, fax machines, etc.)

1. Associate's degree
2. Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand
3. Critical thinking skills/problem-solving skills
4. Experience preparing and maintaining accurate records
5. Basic budget experience
6. Experience working with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

1. Assist the CLC Coordinator to maximize the effective and efficient operations of the Community Learning Center (e.g., after-school programs, volunteer recruitment and management, event planning, etc.)
2. Refer students, families, and community members to appropriate services (e.g., state agencies, medical professionals, counselors, foundations, charities, etc.)
3. Support the expansion and sustaining of program capabilities to provide programming in the three anchor areas: (1) extended day, community, and adult education; (2) early childhood education; and (3) health and social services
4. Respond to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g., staff, parents, community agencies, students, etc.)
5. Collaborate with a variety of internal and external parties
6. Coordinate the translation of written and verbal communications to provide effective communication between the CLC and non-English speaking parents and students
7. Prepare materials and media for information dissemination (e.g., notes, memos, letters, newsletters, brochures, room calendars, Facebook updates, etc.)
8. Compile information for a variety of uses (e.g., data tracking of CLC programs, etc.)
9. Maintain a variety of documents, files, and records (electronic and manual) to provide up-to-date reference and audit trails for compliance
10. Assist in managing financial activities (e.g., budget, collection of money, alternative funding, donations, etc.) to run effective programs within the budget while meeting regulatory requirements
11. Support funding and in-kind support (e.g., grants, direct mail, donor cultivation, campaigns, planned gifts, alumni relations, etc.), in coordination with the SLCSD Education Foundation, to ensure project and program sustainability
12. Participate in various meetings, including chairing meetings if directed, to convey and receive information and represent the interests of the CLC site and the wider community
13. Assist other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
14. Maintain inventory and order of shared community rooms
15. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders
16. Work under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information, and meeting deadlines
17. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to perform the duties of the position effectively
18. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required
19. As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 30 pounds
20. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
21. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective function of the work unit
