About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry strips Description: The unit is an Intermediate Care Unit with a capacity of 30 beds. The goal for nurse-to-patient ratios is 1:4, but it usually runs 1:5 and can occasionally reach 1:6. Registered Nurses are required to take a full patient assignment while working as Charge Nurse or House Supervisor. Registered Nurses must be able to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. The unit has a dedicated IV team that is in-house 24/7 and handles all IV starts. Respiratory services are managed by trained Respiratory Therapists, who are available 24/7. The unit supports a wide range of patient diagnoses, including chest pain, CHF, and post-procedure management. All staff members are expected to have flexibility, including floating to other units as needed. Shifts run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and staff members are allowed to self-schedule based on unit needs. Weekend shifts are scheduled based on departmental requirements, typically requiring several weekend days. Attendance issues, including tardiness and call-offs, will result in corrective action, up to and including termination. A thorough orientation process is in place for new hires, where the first two days involve dedicated training with a preceptor. Nurse Aides assist with patient care and have set ratios for support. Registered Nurses must be able to manage and titrate various medication drips, including Amiodarone and Nitroglycerin.
