Histotechnologist

The Histotechnologist is responsible for the processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of surgical and autopsy tissue, as well as preparing and staining cytopathology specimens. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and quality of specimens for the Pathologist's examination and interpretation. The Histotechnologist will contribute to the section's productivity and cost-effectiveness, while also recognizing and referring issues to the Section Supervisor, Pathologist, or Administrative Director as necessary. Proper management of patient body tissue and meticulous documentation of supplies and equipment is crucial. The role includes performing specialized techniques required for diagnostic purposes and participation in the Quality Assurance program. Key Responsibilities: Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissues. Prepare and stain cytopathology specimens following established policies and procedures. Contribute to the productivity and cost-effectiveness of the section. Recognize and refer results or problems to the appropriate supervisor or Pathologist. Manage patient body tissue correctly, preparing microscopic sections for diagnosis. Maintain section administration, including documentation and inventory of supplies and equipment. Perform specialized techniques required for diagnostics. Participate in the Quality Assurance program. Required Qualifications HTL (ASCP) certification.
