This guide explains our Massage Therapy opportunity, what we look for in a Massage Therapy Practitioner, and the standards that shape the Black Bella Spa experience.

Massage Therapy Job Requirements:

Must have proof of active Maryland State Licence and Liability Insurance

Provide safe, customized, therapeutic massage & bodywork treatments (training provided)

Provide massage techniques explained in training that exceed each client's expectations (training provided)

Conduct thoughtful consultations and adapt each session to the client’s goals, comfort, and health considerations (training provided)

Complete proper treatment and documentation within the scope of the State of Maryland mandate (SOAP)

Our Massage Therapists provide massage, body scrub, body wrap, contouring and other spa services (training provided)

Required to sell spa services including rebookings, memberships, service enhancements & treatments (training provided)

Prepare, clean, sanitize, and reset treatment rooms and client facing spaces before and after every service (training provided)

Perform your service based on our booking calendar and your work schedule as it updates in real-time with new appointments added throughout the work day

Must be committed to fulfill agreed upon work days with limited or no changes to the schedule (you must come to work as agreed)

Must arrive 30 min prior to first session.

You can't be late. If tardiness is your character, this position is not for you

If hired you agree to all policy's, mandates, and training details provided in our employment contract.

Massage Therapist Conduct & Attitude:

Must be willing to be quiet while at the spa

Must be able to provide clients with an exceptional luxury experience (per our training)

Must have positive, professional, upbeat, kind, empathetic, and "can do" attitude

Must be willing to keep conversation with clients & team mates to a minimal & purposeful standard. (per our training)

Must have a pleasing, confident, & service driven countenance

Must respect the Black Bella Spa Zero tolerance for disrespect, & discrimination of others (vendors, clients, team members)

What does a typical day look like for a Massage Therapist?

Every day is an amazing adventure! Each day our Massage Therapist practitioners perform a variety of services. Example: massage, body scrub, body wrap, contouring and other spa services. Training & Certification will be provided.

No two appointment days are exactly alike. Your appointments and service mix will depend on client bookings and your qualifications.

Before each visit, you’ll review the scheduled appointments and prepare a welcoming, ready-to-use treatment room. Keep in mind that our appointments are booked online and are fluid. Your day may have openings in the morning that are booked during the work day. Expect the unexpected. Expect to be busy.

You’ll consult with the client, adapt the service to their needs and comfort, and give them your full attention during the session. Afterward, you’ll complete your treatment notes, share any relevant recommendations, and sanitize and reset the space for the next guest. You will work quickly and efficiently because your next client is on the way. Our Spa Coordinator will be onsite to provide support each day. The variety keeps your skills engaged. The consistent thread is how clients feel in your care: heard, comfortable, and confident because they chose Black Bella Spa.

Training & certification at Black Bella Spa is not FREE.

New hires are provided with collateralized training (at zero cost) provided they remain in good standing & pass the 90 day probationary period.

Training from Black Bella Spa is $1,600 per modality (on site training class). Hired staff are offered training of each modality at a reduced rate of $699.

Tenured staff in good standing do not pay for training or certifications.

If you are separated from payroll before the probationary period is complete you will be billed $699.00 for the training.
