Job Title: Shipping Associate

Job Description

Join a high-volume distribution facility as a Shipping Associate, where you will pick and pack orders, prepare parts for shipment, and help ensure accurate and timely fulfillment using warehouse management systems and basic computer tools. This role involves hands-on work in a warehouse environment and offers the opportunity to learn forklift operation and grow within a large organization.

Responsibilities

• Pick and pack orders accurately in a busy distribution and warehouse setting.
• Use a warehouse management system (WMS/ERP) to process orders and track inventory.
• Operate basic PC functions and navigate computer systems to input and retrieve order information.
• Scan parts and materials to ensure correct items are selected and recorded for shipment.
• Work both independently and collaboratively with team members to fulfill daily order requirements.
• Lift and move parts, placing them into boxes and containers for shipment, up to 40 lbs unassisted.
• Read and interpret shipping and receiving documents, order tickets, and other warehouse paperwork.
• Support shipping and receiving activities, including pulling orders and preparing items for outbound shipments.
• Perform general warehouse tasks such as cycle counting and order fulfillment as needed.
• Use paper-based order systems initially and transition to computer-based order processing as the facility evolves.
• Stand on your feet for the duration of the shift and safely climb ladders or reach high shelving when required.
• Learn and eventually operate a forklift in accordance with safety and training guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse/distribution environments.
• Proven ability to pick and pack orders and perform order pulling and fulfillment tasks.
• Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS) for processing orders and inventory.
• Basic PC skills, including the ability to navigate computer systems and enter data accurately.
• Ability to stand on your feet for an entire shift and perform physical warehouse duties.
• Capability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and safely handle parts and boxes.
• Comfort working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn forklift operation in the future.
• Ability to read and follow orders, tickets, and written instructions.
• Comfort with climbing ladders and accessing warehouse shelving as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in shipping, warehouse, or distribution operations.
• Experience using warehouse computer systems and scanners to track parts and orders.
• Exposure to cycle counting or basic inventory control processes.
• Prior experience in fulfillment centers or high-volume distribution facilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when picking, packing, and labeling orders.
• Reliable work habits and a commitment to meeting daily productivity and quality goals.

Work Environment

This role is based in a distribution facility for a large national operation, working in a traditional warehouse setting. You will be on your feet throughout the shift, moving between shelving, packing stations, and shipping areas, and may use ladders to access higher storage locations. The position is available on multiple shifts, including one third-shift opening, with typical hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., or 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Schedules run Monday through Friday, with Sunday through Thursday for third shift. The role is generally a 40-hour-per-week position, with occasional mandated Saturdays during peak periods such as December and opportunities for voluntary overtime at other times. You will work with warehouse systems, computers, scanners, and standard material-handling equipment in a structured, safety-conscious environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterville, OH.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
