Campus Staff Minister - University of Tennessee, Knoxville (Graduate & Faculty Ministry)

Campus Staff Minister – University of Tennessee, Knoxville Campus Staff Minister (CSM) partners with graduate students and faculty to build and support witnessing communities that follow Jesus. The role is part of InterVarsity’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries and is full‑time, though part‑time work may be available. The CSM operates within the university campus environment, engaging diverse ethnic groups and aligning ministry with InterVarsity’s vision and core values. Responsibilities Spiritual Growth Pursue a vibrant relationship with God through Scripture, prayer, and worship, both individually and in community. Develop self‑leadership by growing in self‑awareness, management, relational integrity, and resilience. Embrace scriptural standards for behavior and attitudes. Campus Leadership Serve as a visionary guide, communicating InterVarsity’s vision and core values, and modeling a culture of dependence on God. Lead students and faculty— individually and collectively—through Scripture, prayer, teaching, and discipleship. Set annual goals for qualitative and quantitative growth, including conversions and leadership development. Create, develop, and leverage ministry plans, programs, teams, and structures to close the gap between current reality and aspirational goals. Build and execute plans to achieve annual goals, evaluating and modifying them throughout the year. Mobilize students and faculty to engage relational networks with the gospel and to start new missional communities. Under direction of the Area Director, may supervise Ministry Interns and Campus Ministry Interns as delegated. Missional Developer Intentionally gather, invite, and develop diverse groups of students and faculty to encounter and follow Jesus as Savior and Lord. Create opportunities for faculty and students to encounter and follow Jesus through Scripture, worship, prayer, mission experiences, conferences, etc. Equip students and faculty to think strategically about campus engagement and to proclaim the good news regularly. Disciple students and faculty to hear the Word, respond actively, debrief, interpret, and grow in Christlikeness. Invite, coach, and equip students and faculty to become effective participants and leaders, including starting new witnessing communities. Organizational Collaboration Work with a network of local, area, regional and national InterVarsity staff and volunteers to reflect Biblical standards of excellence, integrity, and partnership. Partner with and respond positively to direction and coaching of supervisors and national leaders. Contribute to collaborative and productive team meetings and relationships. Submit graduating student forms to increase partnership with current students and alumni. Use national ministry resources and tools, including recruiting and participating in conferences when required. Complete reporting, planning and review requirements in a timely manner. Comply with all InterVarsity policies and procedures. Ministry Partnership Development Develop a team of partners—churches and individuals, including alumni and community members—to resource the ministry financially, in prayer, or volunteer service. Raise 100% of the financial budget assigned by supervisor. Communicate regularly with ministry partners, nurturing relationships through visits, phone calls, emails and prayer letters. Develop on‑going, long‑lasting partnerships with alumni and volunteers. Comply with all Ministry Partnership policies. Identify and invest in advocates who will build networks of volunteers and donors on InterVarsity’s behalf. Accomplish all other assigned tasks as appropriate. Qualifications Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal Basis and Purpose Statement). Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct. Believe and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s Human Sexuality Theological Paper. Affirm and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s Women in Ministry Statement of Affiration. Bachelor’s degree required for a four‑year campus; Associate’s degree for a two‑year campus or community college. Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to minister to diverse ethnic communities and faculty. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem‑solving skills. Familiarity with word processing, presentation, email, and spreadsheet software. Work Environment / Physical Requirements The CSM leads ministry in a college campus environment, with possible office space. Responsibilities include travel to on‑campus and off‑campus sites, including student ministry conferences, partnership development meetings, and InterVarsity‑sponsored training sessions.
