Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Information Location: Salem, VA Number of Beds: 27 Number of Staff: 50 RNs / 25 Medics Patient Ratios: 4-6:1 Staffing Information Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse 5 Registered Nurses (RN) 2-3 Medics Increase by 4-5 RNs at 11 AM Increase by 1-2 RNs at 3 PM Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse 5 Registered Nurses (RN) 2-3 Medics Typical Procedures Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) Sepsis interventions Stroke protocol including tPA administration Central line placement Care for psychiatric patients Transfers to other facilities (EMTALA) Qualifications Required Skills: Completion of 2-3 travel assignments 2-3 years of Emergency Room experience Preferred Skills: Experience in high acuity and fast-paced emergency departments with high patient volume Experience with patient ratios of 5:1 Certifications BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Preferred NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Preferred NIH Stroke Scale - Preferred Best Personality Fit Ideal candidates will possess a relaxed, easy-going demeanor, be friendly, team-oriented, and show respect to colleagues and patients.
