Test Technician Trainer Senior Specialist

You will also be responsible for training front line employees, and other impacted clients on critical corporate initiatives. As a Test Technician Trainer Senior Specialist, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities Facilitate training such as new hire, new to role, refresher, just-in-time performance-based training, continuous education and/or performance support for students within T&D (such as electrical construction, maintenance and operations) in classroom or field training environments. Participate as a subject matter expert to develop and maintain training curriculum, materials, performance support tools and assessments using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), focusing on safety protocols, work processes, new technologies, and procedures. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify training needs, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in T&D training delivery (such as safety and compliance, new technology and equipment, and grid operations). Serve as a subject matter expert to provide guidance and support to trainees focusing on safety protocols, work processes, new technologies, and procedures related to transmission, distribution, and substation operations. Administer and proctor classroom training tests and field assessments, determining pass/fail criteria and partnering with stakeholders to provide feedback to students in T&D training technical skills programs (such as lineman apprenticeship, substation operations, etc.). Partner with front‑line employees and stakeholders to resolve training issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including annual safety and compliance training. Participate in the development and execution of the technical training roadmap, strategic planning, and operational excellence initiatives, incorporating the latest industry trends and best practices. Organize and oversee hands‑on demonstrations and lab exercises to reinforce learning objectives and provide practical experience with electrical equipment and tools. Support training delivery logistics and resources across multiple training locations, programs and systems on topics such as distribution construction and maintenance and electrical systems. Partner with and support front‑line leaders with employee performance management activities. Serve as a mentor to help students navigate their education and career paths in their technical field. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in T&D to incorporate relevant updates into training programs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, approved work methods and company policies in all training activities, maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment for all participants. Protect all Company physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly access and manage private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Five or more years of experience in electric utility line work, training and/or instructional design. Possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing instruction, evaluating trainees, and reporting on their progress to supervision. Subject matter expert for the technical training material. Interpreting and working from complex substation plans, drawings, prints, and manufacturer documentation. Performing mathematical calculations. Experience performing physical work. Demonstrates ability to follow safety rules, programs, and procedures. Experience working with relays in a field environment as a test technician. Providing performance feedback and coaching. Knowledge of SC&M functional policies and procedures. Additional Information This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
