Senior Software Engineer (United States)

About Us

VectorOne builds software for the office of the CFO, tailored to the world’s most complicated industries where general purpose accounting tools fall short: oil & gas, infrastructure, real estate, private equity/family office, healthcare, and consumer products/retail. We’re solving messy, complex problems built on systems and processes that tie back to the Industrial Revolution. The office of the CFO must evolve, and VectorOne is building what that evolved state will become.

Most finance platforms make every customer adapt to the software. We instead start from deep industry expertise, then build the software around how businesses actually operate. Our team pairs experienced finance and industry operators with engineers who want to replace manual, antiquated processes with something better. If you're curious, learn fast, and want to do your best work alongside people who've lived these problems, we'd like to meet you.

The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Full Stack Software Engineer who will build the engineering platform that underpins every VectorOne deployment. You will be relentless about performance, security, and reliability. You won't blindly pull in dependencies—you will keep the code base lean and build your own solutions for shallow problems.

You will define the balance between leveraging AI coding tools and maintaining sustainable engineering practices. You will design and implement our design systems, code generation engines, and the CI/CD pipelines that power our entire stack.

You will argue for frameworks and technologies that give us a lasting competitive advantage, not whatever happens to be popular. You will obsess over your work and make it the best of your career to date.

What You'll Do

• Identify and implement our core application technologies with a focus on the business outcome they enable.
• Build a full-stack application platform using a backend for front-end architecture. No micro-services! (You already know why.)
• Collaborate with the CTO, Product Management, and SMEs to translate messy ideas into clear features and elegant systems.
• Optimize for the problems we have, not the problems we might have one day. Document the trade-offs we are making for outcomes over abstractions. Know how you will change them later. Never give an inch when prioritizing outcomes over engineering.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years in software engineering with at least one year of experience as a senior software engineer.
• A strong background in GCP is a huge plus.
• Experience in early-stage or high-growth environments.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring engineers while staying hands-on.
• Zero to one builder comfortable setting patterns and processes.
• Comfortable using a Founder mindset to shape strategy in ambiguous environments while driving execution.
• Expertise in Python, React, Typescript
• Nice to have: Postgres
