Senior Research Engineer, GenMedia Safety, DeepMind

Develop solutions for GenMedia models that balance user experience, safety, and scalability.Utilize data and algorithmic reasoning to ensure image-generation models remain safe, and helpful.Collaborate with policy experts to convert, ambiguous safety guidelines into actionable technical implementations.Design and maintain protocols to identify and bridge gaps in model safety.Execute experiments to inform safety strategies while innovating rapid, scalable mitigations for high-priority, time-sensitive escalations.Minimum qualifications:PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.2 years of experience leading a research agenda.2 years of experience with machine learning algorithms, research methodologies, and language modeling.Preferred qualifications:1 year of experience leading research efforts and influencing other researchers.The GenMedia Safety team develops the data and algorithmic solutions that define the safety and behavior of GDM’s latest image and video generation models. In this role, you will build and deploy innovations that impact millions of users.
