Maintenance Technician (\$5,000 Sign-On Bonus) The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair. The Maintenance Technician performs troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment, including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. The Technician also troubleshoots and repairs facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, other filtration equipment, and performs general plant maintenance. The Technician works directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventive maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues that arise during a shift. The Technician also proposes solutions to complex, recurring production‑equipment problems to senior mechanics and management. Essential Functions Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings and testing equipment. Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other production equipment. Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes. Maintain industrial control systems. Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and promptly. Fill in for production operators as needed. Create and report repairs throughout the shift; complete required work‑order paperwork and document parts and material usage. Understand and follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation. Personal protective equipment is used where required. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 4 years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment. 4 years of experience in a maintenance position. 4 years of experience managing people or projects (experience may include a combination of work experience and education). Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments. Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Skills with shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools. Proficiency with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges. Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific plant or machine center. Own toolbox and basic tools required. Preferred Qualifications 6 years of experience in a field or similar manufacturing environment. 6 years of experience in a maintenance position. 6 years of experience managing people or projects. Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries. Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), servo drives, and servo motors. Experience with rotary equipment such as rotary presses or fillers. Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing. Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment. HVAC experience, including chillers and/or air compressors. Experience working with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting. Fabrication skills such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick). Electrical systems skills, including 480VAC & 24VDC power. Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams. Skills in repairing variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (ASI‑bus, CAN‑bus, Profi‑bus, Ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.
