Purpose

This position will lead pathfinding programs in advanced heterogenous integration for the Texas Institute for Electronics. This role may be hired at the Director or at the Executive Director level depending on the qualifications, education, and experience level of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities

• Provides vision and direction in developing pathfinding programs in advanced heterogenous integration.
• Identifies key priorities in advanced semiconductor technology to ensure that TIE creates immediate and long‑term impact in the semiconductor design and manufacturing sector.
• Manage a multi‑disciplinary, highly qualified team to achieve TIE research development and strategic goals.
• Oversees development of semiconductor process flows that will advance the state‑of‑the‑art in critical semiconductor domains such as advanced packaging.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant discipline
• Fifteen (15) years of work experience in semiconductor fabrication, including at least 5 years of managing or supervising programs
• Significant exposure to pathfinding programs, including exploring novel materials and processes, and process integration R&D
• Goal‑oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well in teams

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate or more years of experience working with standard semiconductor processes for patterning, wet and dry etching, deposition, metrology, and characterization.

Working Conditions

• May work in standard office conditions
• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
• Use of manual dexterity
• Work is performed on‑site in a scientific research environment, with dynamic work conditions and frequent interruptions.
• Work outside standard office hours could be required occasionally during peak periods and special events.

Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University‑Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
