Compensation The starting wage for this position is $26.01 per hour, plus eligibility for an annual bonus. Pay is dependent on the candidate's geographic location and relevant claims experience. Job Summary Utilizes formal training to investigate, confirm coverage, determine liability, establish damages, and negotiate settlements of auto claims, including single and multi-vehicle losses with moderate complexity of liability. Day In The Life Of An Auto Claim Handler Apply knowledge to investigate and determine liability for claims with basic coverage and moderate to complex liability issues. Perform in-depth investigations on losses such as multi-vehicle claims with comparative negligence. Secure recorded statements, police reports, vehicle photos, estimates, and conduct scene investigations. Make same‑day contact with customers, explain claims process, coverage benefits, and confirm facts of loss. Determine vehicle location and drivability, offer repair and rental options, coordinate auto physical damage estimates, and manage storage fees. Investigate coverage issues requiring in‑depth analysis, including out‑of‑force policies, unlisted drivers, excluded drivers, ride‑share involvement, material misrepresentation, and new business investigations. Own the claim, serve as primary point of contact, and collaborate with other specialists to facilitate resolution. Communicate policy risk issues to Underwriting and escalate complex coverage issues to supervisor. Apply venue laws for all states in the region, determine liability percentages, and communicate decisions to customers and stakeholders. Recognize subrogation potential and refer to the Subrogation department when appropriate. Investigate non‑auto property damage exposures, resolve physical damage claims, and authorize payment to customers and repair facilities. Manage rental claims, mitigate storage costs, and coordinate with vendors and specialists for claim resolution. Maintain active diary and resolution plan, ensuring professional correspondence and regulatory compliance. Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred. An active All Lines Adjuster license is required, or the ability to obtain licensure within training. Experience & Skills Required Demonstrated customer service skills. Effective conflict management and pattern identification. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
