Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better.HDR has an excellent opportunity in the Mid-Atlantic Water Business Group for a professional to lead the growth, control, direction, and quality of the Area's Pump Station and Pipelines Business Class. The Business Class Leader (BCL) is a professional that is well versed in all aspects of Business Class (BC) services for pump stations and pipeline projects and leads a group of business class professionals.The duties of the Pump Station and Pipelines BCL are to plan, direct and oversee all aspects of large-scale multi-discipline and multi-benefit projects with a high degree of technical complexity. The position will build and maintain client relations and participate in project development and contract document preparation. The person will work with senior, mid- and junior-level staff across a variety of disciplines. The position will participate in and provide oversight of a variety of project types including planning, design, inspection and construction management of pump station and pipelines and general site civil of major water, wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure.The position will coordinate projects with inter-related disciplines such as structural, geology, geotechnical, civil, mechanical, CADD and GIS. The position will also require coordination with HDR's other regional and national business class technical leads and advisors.As a Business Class Lead, you will participate in the corporate management of the pump station and pipeline business class program. Work assignments may include technical and quality reviews of projects outside of your geographic area.The primary responsibilities of the Pump Station and Pipelines BCL include:Provide leadership with technical capabilities within the Pump Station and Pipelines BCDelivery focus of technical skills, be consulted and provide input on project discipline requirements and manage/supervise BC StaffIntegrate national Pump Station and Pipeline BC initiatives into local area operations through coordination and communication with corporate BC DirectorMaintain appropriate QA/QC procedures and best practicesMonitor area performance within BC to achieve defined goals and support operational managers in monitoring project performance and implementation of corrective actions.Responsible for the technical sector growth in the AreaSupport top line growth across all market sectors in their technical area of focusPrioritize BC activities across Maryland, DC, and Virginia to best implement Market Sector and Business Group objectives and promote technical services of their section in the AreaFacilitate BC teamwork, communication and work sharing between Area offices, business classes, market sectors, management, marketing, and staff.Serve as client manager, project principal and/or PMActively participate in projects or manage projects to meet assigned utilization rateServe as a senior technical resource on projects and programsBuild and retain strong relationships with Staff, Project Managers, Client Development Managers throughout the Area and within HDR in the Mid-Atlantic RegionProvide strategic and tactical input on business trends to BC and local office planning.Manage staff workloads and make recommendations for adjustments and recruiting as neededManage training and licensing requirements and identify opportunities for continuing educationDevelop a technical mentoring and employee advancement process to advance staffChampion marketing opportunities to grow the practiceSupport Area pursuits and actively participate in and support proposal developmentIdentify project needs and recruit professionals to join our HDR teamDemonstrate "can-do" problem solver approach to colleagues and clientsAbility to build positive client relationships, strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and the ability to manage and motivate direct reportsPerform other duties as neededPreferred Qualifications:Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and SharePoint or equivalent databaseMinimum of 7 years' experience leading projects and teams with a focus on pump stations and pipelines.Proven ability to manage projects and teams effectivelyExperience managing budgets, preparing scopes and developing cost estimatesExcellent written and strong communication and listening skillsStrong leadership and organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines, as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively.Ability to understand applicable industry standards, laws, policies and procedures that each project is governed by.Advanced analytical and problem-solving skillsProven ability of contract development and implementation of capital improvements.Strong project management skillsSuccess-oriented attitude and self-starter who takes initiative.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field10 years of experienceCommitted to quality, improvement and HDR valuesMaintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experienceExperienced in development and management of diverse teamsWorks cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class effortsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We Believe HDR is our company.
