Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU License: Required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS PALS TNCC Must-Have: Previous charge experience (minimum 2 years) Patient ratio experience of 2 Charting system experience preferred Description: The registered nurse will provide high-quality care to critically ill patients in the ICU. Patients in this unit may present with a variety of diagnoses, including stroke, COPD, and renal failure. The nurse will be responsible for managing complex patient care, including ventilator management, administration of blood products, and care of patients with central lines. Skills in interpreting arterial blood gases and managing dysrhythmias are essential. This position requires proficiency in monitoring and titration of intravenous medications. The registered nurse will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Experience with special procedures related to MICU care is beneficial. The nurse will also participate in infection prevention and ensure proper isolation precautions are maintained. Suctioning and starting IVs are among the various technical skills required. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial in providing optimal patient outcomes.
