Compensation: Non-exempt, $55.57/HR - $78.68/HR

Job Summary

• Responsible for overseeing and coordinating hospital operations for a designated shift. Serves as the administrative representative during off hours. A clinical role model and mentor. Serves as a resource for nursing staff in the management and delivery of patient care. Responsible for maintaining Critical Access Guidelines and CMS regulations.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities

1. Functions clinically as a resource person in the Acute Care, Birthing Center and Emergency Department areas.
2. Plans, organizes and directs staff.
3. Coordinate services with nursing staff, patients, families, ancillary departments, medical staff, and other providers. Maintains responsibility, authority, and accountability for unit activities while on shift, keeping administration informed, and supporting hospital and management philosophy and decisions.
4. Coordinates staffing schedule, assuring adequate staff-patient ratios ensuring adherence to all contractual obligations.
5. Assists in employee performance appraisals, orientation, and education.
6. Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation and communication of pertinent patient information and unit information to appropriate persons while maintaining patient confidentiality.
7. Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors; documents according to established standards; communicates effectively.
8. Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

1. Two (2) years of experience as a professional nurse in one of the following areas: Intensive Care Unit and/or Emergency Department.
2. Bachelors Degree in Nursing, preferred.
3. Prior leadership experience, preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations

1. Current RN licensure in the State of Washington.
2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 180 days of hire.
4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 180 days of hire.
5. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 180 days of hire.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

2. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing.
3. Skilled in performing nursing assessment, knowledgeable of age specific growth and development needs.

5. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment.

7. Able to create, model, and sustain a positive environment using effective collaboration, counseling, and conflict resolution skills.
8. Able to use one or more electronic medical record applications (e.g., Cerner) to deliver and track patient care. Able to complete paper-based and electronic documentation in an accurate, thorough and timely manner.
9. Able to communicate clinical and educational knowledge as needed with students, patients and families.
