ACTIVITY THERAPIST - Intern

About the Medical Assistant role Upperline Health is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and driven Medical Assistant to assist physicians in delivering complex health services within the clinic setting. This person will primarily work in our Ontario clinic and support the physician with a range of clinical and administrative tasks. Candidates must be flexible problem‑solvers, collaborative team players, eager to learn and tackle problems. Ideal candidates will have podiatry or orthopedic experience and x‑ray experience. Responsibilities Place patients in exam rooms; ensuring they are ready and comfortable for the appointment Complete exam intake, including medical history, social history, surgical history, and history of present illness Complete vitals and required documentation in clinic EMR (athenahealth) Provide patient care under direction of a podiatric physician, including taking x‑rays Perform daily administrative tasks such as re‑stocking exam rooms and disposing of trash Clean and sterilize exam and x‑ray rooms after each patient visit and at end of each day Conduct health assessments and complete visits with Upperline Plus patients Telephonic outreach and engagement with Upperline Plus patients to coordinate ongoing preventative care Care coordination activities including medical records requests, order management, appointment scheduling, managing referrals, etc. Travel to surrounding area clinics to provide support if needed Other related duties as deemed necessary by Upperline Health Qualifications Previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferred Podiatry or orthopedic clinic experience preferred X‑ray experience is a plus Clinical care coordination or care management experience is ideal Previous experience assisting or providing care to the geriatric patient population preferred Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of medical terminology Experience working in an EMR; preferably athenahealth Effective communicator with excellent grammar and interpersonal skills Exceptional customer service highly preferred Reliable transportation is required Excellent oral and written communication skills Physical Demands and Working Conditions Desk computer work and direct patient interaction with facility staff and physicians May have extended periods of standing and lifting more than 5 lbs Work environment characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise level Compensation Salary: $23.00/hr Job Type: Full-time Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
