The Operations Organization seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support the shared service group, including the Machine Shop, Paint and Precision Cleaning operations, to accommodate rapid growth. This role contributes to technical manufacturing leadership, continuous improvement, and the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations in shared services. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement production strategies, ensure projects meet deadlines with high quality, optimize workflows, identify process improvements, and provide technical guidance for seamless production execution. Essential Functions Provide technical guidance to the shared service team and ensure requests are manufacturable. Assess requests for proper data and information to complete the job. Ensure jobs can be completed economically and safely; work with programs to outsource when necessary. Be the gatekeeper for work going to machine shop, precision cleaning, and paint. Estimate process timing, including setup and teardown; provide estimates to production planning. Participate in drawing reviews for parts processed through machine shop, precision cleaning, and painting for DFMA considerations. Develop fixtures and tooling to support shared services activities. Develop scalable processes from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers. Lead process improvement and cost reduction projects; apply lean principles to the shared service area. Lead design changes by coordinating with design engineering to address technical, operational, and obsolescence issues. Interface with technicians and operations staff; back up the operations manager when needed. Work with program manufacturing engineers to optimize requests and improve first-pass yield. Collaborate with operations leadership to expand shared services capability through insourcing new equipment and processes. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience; graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience; in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of related experience. Proven track record of solving complex engineering problems and implementing innovative solutions in a manufacturing environment. Experience providing technical support to machine shop, paint, and/or clean room operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Ability to obtain a secret or top-secret security clearance. Preferred Additional Skills Strong problem-solving capability, people skills, and ability to conduct presentations for internal/external customers. Lean certification (Green Belt or Black Belt). CAD training (SolidWorks/AutoCAD). Knowledge of program and project management techniques and tools. Familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 standards. Experience with DFMA. Salary range information for Massachusetts: $84,000 - $156,000. This is not a guaranteed offer; final amount depends on experience and location.
