Controls Field Service Engineer (Industrial Automation)

What you’ll do

• Partner with Field Technicians at customer sites to resolve hardware and software issues, collaborating closely with Production, R&D, and Back Office teams for technical assessments.
• Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software problems on installed equipment.
• Deliver both remote and on-site technical assistance to customers.
• Document interventions by preparing detailed service reports and technical records.
• Configure and update PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and associated control software.
• Install software updates and patches on existing platforms.
• Customize PLC logic and HMI screens based on specific customer requirements.

What you bring

• Strong foundation in mechatronics and industrial automation.
• Hands-on PLC and hardware experience: Siemens is essential; Rockwell, Beckhoff (or similar) preferred; HMI experience required.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Fluency with industrial programming: Ladder Diagram (LD) and Structured Control Language (SCL).
• Solid knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems and industrial networking.
• Willingness to travel overnight 40–50% across the U.S. and into Canada for customer support and machine installations.

Preferred extras

• Authoring technical manuals, operating guides, and intervention reports.
• Delivering customer training for operation and maintenance.
• Maintaining internal technical documentation (schematics, software versions, configuration files).
• Technical diploma or degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics, or a closely related field.
