Director, Commercial Real Estate Debt Asset Management Overview A leading institutional real estate investment platform is seeking a Director, Commercial Real Estate Debt Asset Management to oversee a team responsible for managing a large and diverse portfolio of commercial real estate loans. This individual will combine strong leadership capabilities with deep commercial real estate credit expertise to support portfolio performance, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives across the platform. The role offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing team while working closely with investment, legal, servicing, and senior management stakeholders on complex loan administration, portfolio management, and asset optimization matters. Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of asset management professionals responsible for loan administration and portfolio oversight activities. Review and approve borrower requests, including matters related to reserves, leasing, ownership changes, collateral modifications, insurance proceeds, and other loan-related approvals. Partner with internal stakeholders to manage portfolio initiatives, special situations, restructurings, loan modifications, and resolution strategies. Oversee underwriting, financial analysis, credit reviews, and risk assessments supporting ongoing asset management decisions. Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, risk standards, and reporting requirements. Maintain strong borrower and partner relationships while proactively identifying and addressing potential risks and opportunities. Drive operational enhancements, process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and automation initiatives across the asset management function. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of portfolio data and reporting utilized for management and investment decision-making. Contribute to broader strategic initiatives focused on portfolio optimization, operational effectiveness, and business growth. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. 8+ years of experience within commercial real estate lending, debt investing, loan servicing, special servicing, or asset management. Demonstrated leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing teams. Strong understanding of commercial real estate underwriting, credit analysis, loan structures, and documentation. Experience working with performing, transitional, construction, or challenged commercial real estate loans. Ability to evaluate complex transactions and make sound risk-adjusted decisions. Excellent communication and relationship management skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management abilities. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
