Specimen Technician

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $16.10hr - $21.10hr

Requirement/Must Have:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Basic understanding of computers.
Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
Ability to learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.
Ability to learn and understand compliance regulations related to test ordering.
Flexibility to work nightshifts, weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime as required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment.
Ability to adapt to change.

Responsibilities:

Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
Execute tasks including A-station, presort, and pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.
Perform imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
Ensure all functions are performed with confidence, accuracy, and in a timely manner.
Maintain productivity and quality standards within a production environment.
Work in a biohazard environment while practicing established safety habits.
Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.
Keep work area neat and clean.

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
Previous hospital laboratory experience.
Previous experience in a production environment.

Centrifugation.
Aliquoting.
Medical Terminology.
Laboratory Safety.
Alphanumeric Typing.

Qualification And Education:

High School Diploma.

Physical Requirements(Due to nature of job, The candidate must have):

Ability to sit for long periods.
