What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, with day-to-day direction from the Senior Corporate Accountant, the Corporate Accountant is the principal preparer within the Corporate Accounting Group, accountable for accurate and timely journal entries, account reconciliations, roll-forwards and supporting analyses feeding the company-wide consolidation and the corporate financial statements.

This is a hands-on execution role. The Corporate Accountant is expected to complete work accurately, on schedule, and with quality support documentation. The role suits an experienced accountant who wants deep exposure to global consolidation and corporate reporting and who is seeking further long-term growth opportunities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Monthly Close

• Prepare journal entries for the corporate and holding company entities, with complete supporting documentation, within the close calendar deadlines.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and roll-forwards across the corporate accounts - including cash, prepaids, accruals and fixed assets - identifying and clearing differences, and escalating unresolved items with a proposed next step.
• Maintain the corporate and holding company accounting records and general ledger, ensuring transactions are recorded in the correct entity, account and period.
• Prepare intercompany transaction detail for the elimination process; confirm intercompany balances with counterpart entities and follow through to resolution.
• Prepare daily cash journal entries and reconcile bank activity to the general ledger.
• Take deliverables through review with the Senior Corporate Accountant where required, and address review comments promptly.

Analysis and Reporting

• Prepare recurring and ad hoc schedules supporting the monthly consolidation and management reporting package.
• Use company financial information systems and reporting tools to extract and validate data used in analyses; reconcile system output to the general ledger before use.

Treasury, Controls and Audit Support

• Support the treasury function with cash management schedules, bank reporting inputs and supporting documentation for debt compliance reporting.
• Maintain and investigate integrity and exception reports; document findings and resolution.
• Prepare audit schedules and pull supporting documentation in response to internal and external audit requests, for review by the Senior Corporate Accountant prior to release.

Process and Development

• Document procedures for areas of responsibility and keep task documentation current.
• Identify and recommend improvements to corporate accounting processes, including opportunities to reduce manual effort or improve accuracy.
• Build working knowledge of the consolidation process and US GAAP application, supporting progression toward broader ownership over time.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Two (2) to four (4) years of progressive experience in general accounting, financial reporting or financial analysis, including hands-on ownership of month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
• Solid working knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement mechanics; able to explain the accounting behind an entry, not only how to record it.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience within an integrated ERP system; JD Edwards preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver assigned work by the committed date.
• Clear written and verbal communication with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
• Detail orientation with a demonstrated record of accurate, well-documented, self-explanatory work product.

Preferred

• Experience in a multi-entity or multi-currency environment.
• Exposure to consolidation, intercompany eliminations or global finance operations.
• Manufacturing industry experience.
• CPA candidate or progress toward the CPA.
