Environmental Services Technician - University City (Full Time) 2nd Shift

Position Summary Department: 11906 Atrium Health University City – Environmental Services Status: Full time | Hours per week: 40 | Pay range: $18.85 – $28.30 per hour | Schedule: Second shift Atrium Health is seeking a full‑time Environmental Services Technician. This position promotes environmental protection by maintaining healthy and safe medical facilities for employees and visitors. Responsibilities Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures; washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures; sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpet; restocking restrooms; replacing light bulbs; reporting repairs. Assists with outdoor cleaning of parking lots, windows and roof, including ladder use as needed. Handles heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, floor strippers and finishes. Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas. Keeps equipment clean and reports equipment failures to maintenance. Maintains a safe working environment and complies with procedures, rules, regulations, infection control guidelines and departmental quality standards. Attends all required in‑service education and training classes, including safety updates. Demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines. Qualifications Preferred: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred: One year of experience. Ability to prioritize assignments and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to operate equipment. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co‑workers. Work Environment Performs repetitive work according to set procedures. Fast‑paced and stressful. Works in contaminated, isolation, construction and renovation areas. Occasionally works in extreme temperatures and around unpleasant smells.
