Library Bookmobile Specialist The Library Department is now hiring a Part-Time Library Bookmobile Specialist! SALARY INFORMATION $25.29 - $30.74 Hourly. Essential Functions CLASS CHARACTERISTICS The Library Bookmobile Specialist classification is assigned to the City's Library Services and drives the Bookmobile to designated locations for patron access to library materials. SUPERVISION EXCERCISED Receives supervision from the Library Services Manager. Incumbent exercises no supervision. Drives the Bookmobile to and from designated locations; retrieves and returns the Bookmobile for each shift; Plans and determines locations for Bookmobile stops and other library programs; inspects technology to ensure proper functioning; stores equipment after each stop. Provides assistance to patrons at Bookmobile locations; Checks out materials; processes cards; responds to account inquiries. Processes and mends books; prepares materials for circulation; Shelves materials inside the Bookmobile; performs routine inventory; identifies materials for potential weeding. Cleans and maintains the Bookmobile. Provides reference assistance at Library service desks. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualification Guidelines QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience Education : HS/GED; Experience : One (1) year of experience driving a bus or van and in assisting the public in providing customer service. Licenses or Certification Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Library procedures, methods, and equipment; Traffic laws and regulations; Library systems and technology; Customer service policies and procedures. Ability Ability to safely operate a vehicle; Provide assistance and support to patrons; Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; Establish and maintain effective working relationships; Use of desktop software; Applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and overhead presentations; Troubleshoot laptops and library equipment. Special Requirements/Physical, Mental, Environmental Conditions MARGINAL FUNCTIONS These are position functions which may be changed, deleted, or reassigned to accommodate an individual with a disability. Environmental Conditions Work is performed in a public library setting and designated City locations. Required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends from time-to-time. Physical Conditions Driving a vehicle to conduct work; Prolonged sitting and regular standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities; Grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard; Near and far vision in reading written reports and work related documents; Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service; Lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 20 pounds. Part-time employees are paid an hourly rate based on hours worked and typically work 19 hours or less per week. The City of Azusa does not pay into Social Security, so part-time employees are enrolled in the Accumulation Program for Part-Time and Limited-Service Employees (APPLE). Part-time employees pay 3.75% of wages into this retirement program and the City matches the employee's (3.75% of wages) share. Paid Sick Leave : Effective July 1, 2015, part-time employees accrue sick leave beginning with the first full pay period of employment on the basis of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. The maximum accrual per year is 48 hours. A waiting period of 90 days is required before an employee may be eligible to use paid sick leave. Although paid sick leave can be carried over year to year, an employee can only accumulate up to a maximum of 48 hours and may use up to 24 hours in any one year. This position is not covered by any other medical benefits. Part-time employees are not considered to be part of the City of Azusa Merit and Civil Service System and are thus designated as non-classified employees. Part-time employees are "at will" employees and, as such, may be terminated at any time without any right of appeal.
