Board-Certified OB/GYN Hospitalist needed for a locum opportunity in Des Moines, Iowa. This assignment offers 24-hour in-house hospitalist coverage within a busy women's health program focused exclusively on obstetric care.

Coverage is needed on select dates throughout the year, with weekday and holiday opportunities available.

Schedule Model

24-hour in-house call shifts 7:00 AM 7:00 AM Average need: approximately 6.5 shifts per month Call rooms available onsite Providers may not work more than two consecutive 24-hour shifts

Practice Overview

Inpatient obstetric hospitalist program No gynecology responsibilities No telehealth EMR: Epic High-volume OB emergency and delivery service

Facility Resources

8-bed OB Emergency Department Maternal-Fetal Medicine backup on call Residents onsite (no direct supervision required) Full hospital support services including imaging, lab, and pharmacy

Clinical Volume

Approximately 1,389 OBED visits annually Approximately 463 deliveries resulting from OBED encounters

Clinical Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage OBED patients Perform vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections Manage emergent obstetric presentations Care for unassigned patients without a primary OB/GYN Support maternal transport cases within regional referral system Collaborate with MFM, nursing, anesthesia, and hospital teams

Qualifications

Board Certified in OB/GYN (board eligible considered) Active Iowa license strongly preferred or active IMLC Clean malpractice and background history NPDB Self-Query required Must provide available coverage dates Provider cannot be local to the Des Moines area
