Faculty, Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Responsibilities Prepare and teach Physical Therapist Assistant courses to a multicultural community college student population Use varied, discipline-appropriate instructional strategies and innovative delivery methods Participate in curriculum review, program review, learning-outcome assessment, and departmental governance Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback Mentor students in the Physical Therapist Assistant program Remain current in the field through professional development Support division and department goals through decision-making and unit-level planning Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces Travel to community partners and clinical sites as needed Maintain office hours and participate in official college functions and campus activities Use the learning management system to develop course content and perform administrative duties Perform other related tasks assigned by department leadership Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or Physical Therapist Assistant with current unencumbered licensure, certification, or registration OR associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with current unencumbered licensure, certification, or registration and three years of non-teaching work experience Minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice Contemporary expertise in neurological diseases and conditions for patients of all ages Proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and classroom technologies Proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard Documented experience with active and applied teaching and learning methodologies Current and up-to-date knowledge of the discipline and subject matter Experience using technology as an instructional aid Ability to communicate effectively with students with varied skills and backgrounds Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain an established schedule, including evenings and weekends Ability to work across possible multiple campus locations that may vary by semester Commitment to confidentiality of student information Ability to meet attendance certification and final-grade submission deadlines Must comply with college policies, procedures, and professional teaching standards Must maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college and throughout employment Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in Physical Therapy and effective teaching methodologies, with a strong commitment to student mentorship and curriculum development.
