Per Diem Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Emergency & Critical Care
Fremont, CA

Beacon Veterinary Specialists is seeking experienced Emergency & Critical Care RVTs to join our Relief Network! This role gives you the flexibility to select open shifts that work with your schedule at premium per diem pay rates.

 

Typical Pay Per Shift*

10-Hour Shift: $544.50 (~$54.45/hr effective)

12-Hour Shift: $693.00 (~$57.75/hr effective)

You Should Be Able To

• Manage complex emergency and critical-care cases
• Recognize and respond to shock, respiratory distress, seizures, and other acute emergencies
• Monitor high-risk anesthesia, mechanical ventilation, CRIs, and patients receiving pressors
• Perform advanced procedures, including jugular/PICC placement and feeding or chest tube care
• Take an advanced role during CPR, including compressions, drug administration, and patient monitoring
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment sheets, and charges in alignment with hospital policies

Qualifications

• Active California RVT license in good standing
• Minimum three years of experience as an Emergency or Specialty RVT
• Demonstrated proficiency in advanced emergency and critical-care nursing
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within the RVT scope of practice
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork
• Reliable and able to commit to at least two shifts per month

About Our Relief Network

• *Typical shift compensation includes built-in daily overtime (1.5x hourly rate) after 8 hours worked at a base pay rate of $49.50/hour. 
• The $49.50 base hourly rate is consistent across all available shifts including days, overnights, and weekends. Actual pay will be based on total hours worked. 
• Shift availability varies based on hospital needs and shifts are not guaranteed. 
• Relief RVTs may not exceed 12 hours per shift or 29 hours per week.
• Per diem RVTs are W-2 Beacon employees, meaning our company pays the employer share of payroll taxes, unlike 1099 relief work.
• This is a non-benefited role: no PTO, retirement match, or health coverage. Paid sick leave accrues as required by California law.
