Role Description The Diesel Service Technician | Diesel Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based at Inland Kenworth U.S. in Fontana, CA. In this role, the technician performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on diesel trucks and related equipment, following manufacturer and company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include inspecting vehicles, identifying mechanical and electrical issues, completing preventative maintenance services, and carrying out repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other components. The technician documents work performed, maintains organized and safe work areas, and uses appropriate tools, diagnostic equipment, and software to complete tasks efficiently. Collaborating with service advisors and other team members, the technician helps explain findings, supports accurate estimates, and contributes to a positive customer experience. Qualifications Strong Maintenance & Repair skills, including performing preventative maintenance and component repairs on diesel trucks and equipment. Proficiency in Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and service information. Ability to perform Field Service work when required, including on-site diagnostics and repairs at customer locations. Demonstrated Customer Service skills, including clear communication, professionalism, and supporting a positive service experience. Experience with general Maintenance practices, safety procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment. Prior experience as a diesel technician or mechanic in a dealership, fleet, or heavy equipment environment preferred. Relevant technical training or certification in diesel technology, automotive, or heavy equipment maintenance is beneficial. Ability to lift and move heavy components, stand for extended periods, and work safely in a shop environment.
