The Field Service Technician II is an experienced, field-ready fitness equipment service professional responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing commercial and residential fitness equipment throughout Iowa.

This is not an entry-level technician position. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of direct, hands-on experience servicing fitness equipment and manufacturer technical training or certification from at least two major fitness equipment manufacturers.

The technician is expected to independently manage assigned service calls, perform advanced troubleshooting, accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, complete repairs and preventive maintenance, document findings, communicate professionally with customers, and determine appropriate next steps when additional parts or repairs are required.

Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial and residential fitness equipment.
• Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics using multimeters and other appropriate diagnostic tools.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, service manuals, schematics, exploded parts diagrams, error codes, and manufacturer technical documentation.
• Diagnose failures involving control boards, drive systems, motors, power supplies, wiring harnesses, sensors, consoles, incline systems, resistance systems, bearings, belts, cables, pulleys, and other fitness-equipment components.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to company procedures and applicable manufacturer requirements.
• Install, assemble, disassemble, and commission commercial and residential fitness equipment.
• Independently manage assigned field-service calls and determine appropriate diagnostic and repair procedures.
• Accurately document diagnostic findings, work performed, parts required, equipment condition, and repair recommendations.
• Capture appropriate photographs, model numbers, serial numbers, error codes, and other service documentation.
• Communicate technical findings and repair recommendations clearly and professionally to commercial and residential customers.
• Maintain company tools, diagnostic equipment, parts, supplies, and assigned service vehicle.
• Follow manufacturer procedures, company standards, and applicable safety requirements.
• Travel throughout the assigned Iowa service territory.
• Participate in occasional overtime, extended travel, and on-call service when required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum three years of professional, hands-on experience specifically diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial and/or residential fitness equipment.
• Technical training or service certification from at least two major fitness equipment manufacturers.
• Demonstrated experience independently diagnosing mechanical and electrical fitness-equipment failures.
• Demonstrated experience servicing commercial-grade cardio and/or strength equipment.
• Ability to use a digital multimeter and other standard electrical/mechanical diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, parts diagrams, and manufacturer technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, motors, control boards, wiring, sensors, switches, drive systems, mechanical assemblies, and related components.
• Ability to independently complete service calls from initial diagnosis through repair recommendation and documentation.
• Strong written documentation and customer communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned service territory.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with commercial fitness-equipment service, including lifting, bending, kneeling, working around and underneath equipment, and handling tools and components.

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturer technical certifications or formal service training from Life Fitness/Hammer Strength, Precor, Matrix, StairMaster, Cybex/SCIFit, Freemotion, Woodway, Keiser, or other major commercial fitness-equipment manufacturers .
• Three or more years of professional fitness-equipment service experience.
• Experience servicing multiple commercial fitness-equipment brands.
• Experience performing commercial preventive maintenance programs.
• Experience servicing treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stair climbers, selectorized strength equipment, functional trainers, and other commercial fitness equipment.
• Experience working independently in a mobile field-service environment.
• Experience working with commercial facilities such as health clubs, universities, hotels, healthcare facilities, corporate fitness centers, or similar environments.
