What You'll Do
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients on the Stroke, MedSurg, and other units as assigned
- Monitor vital signs and patient status, including titratable medications (e.g., Cardene, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin) under manager approval
- Support patient management related to conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, CVA/TIA, spinal surgeries, and more
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including hospitalist, RT, OT, PT, ST, and support staff
- Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech Expanse EMR system
- Respond to emergencies and support critical patient needs, including chest tube management, tracheostomies, dialysis, and lumbar drains (preferred skills)
- Follow hospital policies on patient ratios and safety standards
- Participate in unit orientation and mandatory schedule rotations, including every other weekend and holiday shifts
What You Need
- Valid RN license in Louisiana or the ability to obtain one
- 2+ years of acute care RN experience with emphasis on medical-surgical or stroke units
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
- Skills: Ability to manage titratable IV medications, support advanced patient care procedures, and pass an EKG competency exam
- Preferred: Chest tube management, tracheostomy, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar drain experience
