PASTRY SOUS CHEF 

SALT Patisserie | Newton, MA

Full-Time

SALT Patisserie is looking for an experienced, passionate, and highly motivated Pastry Sous Chef to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who is not only a strong pastry cook, but also a leader. Someone who takes pride in their work, stays organized in a fast-paced environment, and can help lead our pastry team while maintaining the quality and consistency SALT is known for.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pastry Chef with daily pastry and bakery production

• Help lead, train, and support the pastry team

• Oversee production and ensure items are completed correctly and on schedule

• Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all products

• Work hands-on with laminated doughs, viennoiseries, cakes, creams, breads, fillings, and other pastry production

• Help organize daily prep and production lists

• Monitor inventory and communicate ingredient and production needs

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen

• Help enforce recipes, procedures, food safety, and SALT standards

• Troubleshoot production issues and help keep the kitchen running smoothly

What We’re Looking For

• Professional pastry or bakery experience required

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of pastry techniques and production

• Viennoiserie and laminated dough experience is a plus

• Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Dependable, punctual, and able to lead by example

• Positive attitude and willingness to teach and develop others

• Someone who genuinely cares about quality and consistency
