Patient Access Scheduler, Full Time

Overview Responsible for collecting data required for confirming scheduled appointments for outpatient hospital services directly from the patients and referring physician offices. Also responsible for collecting required patient demographic and financial information and creating a complete registered account for scheduled visits. Other duties include performing medical necessity checks, verifying insurance coverage, collecting insurance copays, and sometimes verifying that prior approval has been obtained. This position is the liaison between the order physician’s office and other departments within Iredell Health System. Perform medical necessity checks and verify insurance coverage and collect insurance copays. Sometimes verify that prior authorization has been obtained. Serve as the liaison between the order physician’s office and other departments within Iredell Health System. Qualifications Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Six months or more of on-the-job experience in a like or similar position required. Good communication skills preferred. Proficiency in the use of a calculator. Computer experience required. Must be able to work weekends. Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time.
