Certified Library Media Specialist Winchendon Public Schools – Winchendon, Massachusetts Job Details Job ID: 5683332 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Apr 30, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 25, 2026 Job Description The Library Media Specialist will deliver a high‑quality instructional experience aligned with district curriculum standards. Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers, designing and implementing units that promote critical thinking, research skills, and responsible digital citizenship. This position covers both Memorial and Toy Town Elementary Schools during the 2026‑2027 school year. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s Degree in an American Library Association accredited program or library and information science program is preferred). Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Library – All Levels with SEI Endorsement (required). Knowledge of current education legislation and regulations. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, parents, and advocate for students. Commitment to fostering academic and social‑emotional growth for all students. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process. Co-design, teach, and assess learning experiences that integrate inquiry learning and information literacies. Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning. Teach search techniques, including online search engines, databases and catalog searching. Provide learning experiences guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards. Monitor and supervise students through effective classroom management. Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities. Maintain and improve professional competence through professional development and self‑generated activities. Plan and assess curriculum and instruction in alignment with standards. Differentiate instruction and provide opportunities using the RTI framework. Develop schedules to meet and instruct assigned students. Maintain accurate records per district policy. Benchmark the Library program to state and national standards. Assist in research, development, and evaluation of new methods and digital tools. Stay current in professional practices and maintain active memberships. Collect and analyze data to improve instruction and demonstrate correlations with student achievement. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal. Physical Demands The job requires regularly standing, walking, using hands, talking and hearing. Employees may need to reach above their heads, reach forward, sit, squat, stoop or kneel, and lift or move up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Salary Salary in accordance with the Agreement between the Winchendon School Committee and the Winchendon Teachers’ Association.
