Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/ Sr Principal DevOps Engineer. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel program.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

As an DevOps Engineer, you will:

• Design and develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Develop scripts, workflows, and playbooks for storage provisioning, automation, and backup integration.
• Build and maintain automated patching, compliance, and reporting frameworks.
• Administer and automate Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments including OS deployment, configuration hardening, lifecycle management and patching
• Manage and automate VMware vSphere based infrastructure including ESXi hosts, clusters, resource pools, templates, and virtual networking/storage objects
• Provision, automate, and manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments using Omnissa Horizon including golden image creation, pool configuration and desktop lifecycle maintenance
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless infrastructure deployments.
• Monitor and optimize infrastructure performance to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with other teams to identify automation opportunities, troubleshoot issues, integrate infrastructure solutions and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the systems.
• Document Processes and configurations for clarity and maintainability.
• Optimize infrastructure utilization and reduce manual intervention in operational tasks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand diverse automation needs and advocate for unified solutions.
• Communicate progress, problems and best practices to management, leads and teammates.

Basic Qualifications:

This role can be filled at the Principal DevOps Engineer (T03) or Sr. Principal DevOps Engineer (T04) level.

Principal DevOps Engineer: 05 Years with Bachelor's in related field of study, 03 Years with Masters, 01 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.

• Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
• US Citizenship with Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
• 2 + years of demonstrated experience in developing software in Python, Bash, or C++. Understanding of software engineering best practices and software development lifecycle Experience with GitLab/Git for software configuration management
• Experience with automated software requirements, testing, analysis, and development in Python
• Develop Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) process and tools, deployment strategies
• Build and deploy containers and containerization technologies
• Enable and lead Agile management and collaboration, leveraging tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitLab

Sr. Principal DevOps Engineer : 08 Years with Bachelor's in related field of study, 06 Years with Masters, 04 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.

• Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
• US Citizenship with Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
• 2 + years of demonstrated experience in developing software in Python, Bash, or C++. Understanding of software engineering best practices and software development lifecycle Experience with GitLab/Git for software configuration management
• Experience with automated software requirements, testing, analysis, and development in Python
• Develop Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) process and tools, deployment strategies
• Build and deploy containers and containerization technologies
• Enable and lead Agile management and collaboration, leveraging tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitLab

Preferred Qualifications:

• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or higher (ex. Security+ w/CE)
• Experience with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Active Special Access Program (SAP) access
• Experience developing software in a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
• Programming and scripting experience in a Linux environment (C++,Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, Shell, Scripts)
• Experience coordinating and leading integrated testing activities with multiple test teams.
• Experience with container technologies in support of building and implementing using CI/CD pipelines (i.e., Podman, Docker).
• Familiarity with Atlassian applications JIRA and Confluence
• Ability to effectively communicate and present technical details to peers and internal/external stakeholders

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
