Telecommunications Systems Technician II

About the Opportunity Under the general supervision of the Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor I, the Telecommunications Systems Technician II (TST II) is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The TST II will also functionally report to the assigned shop lead as required. Duties are performed by following Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations, utilizing office‑provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature. The incumbent will communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co‑workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST II will maintain a professional and team‑centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. The incumbent will work proficiently with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Travel to and work in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required. Working Conditions In Office: This position supports and manages the day‑to‑day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position. DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position requires a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Candidates must provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions. Residence: The essential job requirements of this position require that the incumbent resides within a one‑hour response time of the headquarters. Candidates who do not reside within the one‑hour response time at the time of consideration must be willing to relocate.
