Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care / Step-Down (IMCU)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Step-Down unit serving adult acute care patients requiring a higher level of monitoring than a general medical-surgical floor
• Monitor and interpret continuous telemetry and pulse-oximetry; manage cardiac dysrhythmias and coordinate with Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Manage airway support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, non-invasive airway management, and acute BIPAP support
• Perform and oversee IV therapy including peripheral line care and management, as well as titrated medicated IV infusions and arterial and central line care
• Maintain strict isolation precautions and adhere to evidence-based infection control protocols
• Float to other units as required and adapt to varying patient care needs using a multidisciplinary team approach

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license – must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in an IMC, PCU, Step-Down, or Medical-Surgical setting
• Current BLS certification
• Current and valid NIHSS certification – must be included at time of submission
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records – required, no exceptions
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 in a MedSurg capacity

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients with arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV infusions in a step-down or critical care environment
• Background in a tertiary care hospital setting
• Comfort with floating across units and adapting quickly to diverse patient populations
