About the Role The OSP Telecom Project Inspector oversees the quality, safety, and compliance of our outside plant construction projects, from initial design and permitting through final inspection and close-out. Reporting to the Manager, Construction, this field-based role is responsible for designing and developing OSP construction drawings and permit documentation, and for project managing assigned work through to completion. The inspector coordinates closely with contractors, City departments, other agencies, and Disney staff to keep projects on schedule and in compliance with company, OSHA, and local standards. What the Role Involves Designing and developing OSP construction drawings and permit documentation, and project managing assigned projects through to completion Inspecting all maintenance, installation, and repair of transport infrastructure servicing business and residential customers within our service area, including IDF/MDF closet rack and cabling procedures, correct labeling of fiber/copper cables in manholes and pull boxes, FTTH drop cable depth, and all contractor work Coordinating and conducting pre-construction and progress meetings with contractors, City departments, and other agencies Attending and participating in pre-construction meetings with internal staff, Disney staff, and contractors Coordinating work with contractors, City departments, and other agencies Working with contractors on project updates and scheduling issues, and answering questions Ensuring all contractors and company staff remain safety compliant per OSHA, company, and Disney standards, when applicable Assisting with surveying, locating, and field work, as needed Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all systems from the customer premise to Smart City via copper and fiber cabling Using assigned equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility representatives, and company personnel regarding underground facilities Performing light excavation with a shovel to expose buried cables, when necessary Properly operating and maintaining HESCO (manhole assistance trailer), ladders, and hand and power tools Following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures, and observing company safety policies at all times Contributing to various projects with minimal supervision, including aiding other departments and team members, as directed What We're Looking For A vital interest in contributing to the success of the department’s and company’s goals and strategic vision Competency and experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to work with cloud-based and mobile technology Eagerness to adapt existing processes to new, improved systems Excellent organizational skills, time management, initiative, attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through to completion Well-developed decision-making, analytical, and critical thinking skills Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex situations in simple terms Ability to multi-task and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision Ability to work in a high-availability network environment with tight SLAs Ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times A proactive attitude within the team through mentoring and knowledge sharing Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, and overnight work, as needed, to perform field site visits with contractors, customers, and local agencies Ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally with team members at all levels within the organization Ability to read and understand maps, conduit records, and layout drawings Advanced knowledge of telecommunications utility installations and standard construction practices Considerable knowledge of construction management, inspection methods, and materials Working knowledge of boring, trenching, and aerial work methods and interpretation Working knowledge of the permit application, review, and close-out process in the Central Florida market (Orange County, Osceola County, City of Orlando, Maitland, etc.) Ability to review and comprehend cable drawings and engineering designs, and identify underground cable infrastructure Fluency in operating test equipment used to maintain and troubleshoot fiber optic facilities and subscriber drops (TDR, OTDR, fiber scopes) Fluency in universal communications color code for both copper and fiber infrastructure, including various counts and specifications Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear/recognize audible signals Ability to safely use step and extension ladders (up to 25 ft.) or other elevated equipment, as appropriate (e.g., catwalks, cell tower platforms, rooftops, man lifts, bucket trucks) Minimum of 3 years of related project inspection experience, or a combination of education and work experience; telecommunications industry experience preferred Ability to work in confined spaces, outdoors in all weather conditions, and on various terrain, at various hours of the day or night Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record Nice to Have OSHA Safety certifications AutoCAD proficiency with SpatialNet knowledge Bilingual in English and Spanish Working Conditions Availability to respond to after-hours call-outs, and to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and holidays as required, remaining in service during outages until resolved Intermittent indoor office working environment with prolonged sitting Outdoor working environment with exposure to seasonal heat, cold, and other inclement weather conditions Driving a company-assigned vehicle to and from work sites in a safe and responsible manner during adverse weather conditions, heavy or light traffic, or at night Working at or near active roadways and vehicular traffic, requiring the use of traffic control devices, signage, and safety protocols to protect both team members and the public Work sites include manholes, hand holes, and similar locations, and will involve extensive walking on various terrain, working around objects and machinery in construction areas, and may require confined space entry and the ability to work in elevated areas Wearing and maintaining all personal protective equipment (PPE) required for this role and job site, including eye protection, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing, and steel-toed boots Exposure to loud noise from construction equipment, machinery, and tools, requiring the use of hearing protection as appropriate Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools;
