Works under general supervision to assist in implementing individual and group counseling programs within the Sheriff’s Department. Pay Grade: 43 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities Processes intake data for new cases and arranges conference or group sessions. Assists in preparation of program files and individual histories. Works with various related agencies in exchange of information, as required. Leads group discussions to accommodate the needs of the group, as required. Lectures to therapy or counseling groups and monitors discussions. Utilizes recreational, physical education, and other therapeutic activities counseling aids, as required. Prepares evaluations and reports, as required. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSAs Knowledge of the methods and techniques of counseling and application. Ability to establish and maintain meaningful rapport with participants. Knowledge of the legal methodology in processing cases. Ability to write meaningful reports. Ability to gather and interpret case histories. Ability to work with various support agencies in exchange of meaningful activities relevant to patient needs. Special Requirements Must pass a physical examination. Must be available for shift and weekend work as required. Must be able to work in a jail-secured environment.
