Unit Support Assistant

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $15.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 5:30 AM-2:00 PM , including weekend rotation

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Unit Support Assistant to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX . This position is ideal for someone with housekeeping or Environmental Services experience who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment.

The Unit Support Assistant will perform routine housekeeping duties, respond to emergency spills, assist with room turnover, and support the safe transportation of patients and delivery of supplies and specimens as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning duties in assigned patient care units and areas according to established housekeeping and infection-control procedures.

   

• Clean and disinfect assigned spaces using prescribed methods and schedules.

   

• Dispense and use cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations and safety guidelines .

   

• Respond promptly to emergency spills and complete cleanup using established procedures.

   

• Clean vents, exhaust systems, intake air grills, and supply grills as assigned.

   

• Dust, sweep, clean, and remove debris as directed by leadership.

   

• Handle, transport, and dispose of general and hazardous waste according to established procedures when assigned.

   

• Maintain positive control of cleaning equipment and chemicals by continuously monitoring the cleaning cart.

   

• Assist with room turnover and checkout duties within designated timeframes when assigned.

   

• Clean and set up rooms for special events and functions as needed.

   

• Maintain patient care equipment and assist with cleaning equipment according to established procedures.

   

• Safely transport patients to and from designated areas when assigned.

   

• Pick up and deliver specimens, supplies, equipment, and other items as needed.

   

• Respond professionally and courteously to patients, families, staff, and leadership.

   

• Follow all applicable safety, infection-control, and departmental procedures.

   

• Parking will be provided by the department.

   

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may be considered.

   

• Housekeeping or Environmental Services experience required.

   

• Prior experience in hospital Environmental Services or housekeeping preferred.

   

• Experience in healthcare, hospitality, or contract cleaning services preferred.

   

• Knowledge of standard housekeeping procedures, sanitizing practices, and chemical safety .

   

• Ability to safely use standard cleaning and floor equipment.

   

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

   

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

   

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

   

• Must successfully complete required departmental training for Unit Support Assistants .

   

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
