Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) - Macon, Georgia

This opportunity is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with a background in medical-surgical and telemetry care, eager to contribute to a renowned teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma Designation and comprehensive specialty centers. Nursing staff manage a diverse patient population, including post-op surgical patients, cardiac procedures, and complex co-morbidities such as heart failure, diabetes, respiratory failure, and kidney disease.


Schedule Details:

• 12-hour shifts: Days (7A-7P) or Nights (7P-7A)
• Rotating weekends: 5-6 out of 12 shifts per 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage: One shift for each major holiday

Qualifications:

• Current RN license and BLS certification required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg Telemetry (first-time travelers considered)
• Must pass EKG competency (Basic Cardiac Rhythm)
• Clinical proficiency with IV insertion, central line care, wound and post-op monitoring, cardiac telemetry, insulin/heparin drips, and strong assessment skills
• ACLS & Med-Surg certification preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical care for a variety of acute and chronic diagnoses, prioritizing cardiac and renal cases
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status with advanced EMR (EPIC)
• Deliver patient education, particularly regarding discharge planning and fluid management
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including 24/7 hospitalist, intensivist, and dedicated CNAs, unit secretaries, and resource nurses
• Participate in rapid patient turnover using admission/discharge protocols
• Floating to all adult medical-surgical/telemetry units as needed
