Clinical Nurse II

The Clinical Nurse II practices as a full partner on the health care team. Demonstrates safe nursing practice and adheres to organizational professional practice standards. Possesses the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for competent professional nursing practice. Independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process. Accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients, who may range in age from infancy to adult. Demonstrates competency in Patient and Family Centered Care, Evidence-Based Practice, Safety, and Quality Improvement. Works closely with the inter-professional health care team to facilitate care coordination. Focuses on providing individualized care based on the diverse needs of patients. Seeks feedback to assume leadership roles and provides constructive feedback for improved clinical practice. Complies with all relevant regulations and standards. Recognizes the patient as a source of control and a full partner in care. Manages complex patient care assignments appropriate to skill level. Participates in consensus building and conflict resolution in patient care contexts. Evaluates and implements alternative approaches to establishing a healing environment. Engages in problem-solving to address complex issues regarding patient-centered care. Utilizes evidence-based practice by integrating the best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences. Critically evaluates current practices and contributes to policy and procedure revisions. Minimizes risk of harm to patients and families through effective systems and individual performance. Serves as a resource for safety concerns and participates in error analysis for system improvements. Demonstrates skills in problem solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation. Guides and directs unlicensed assistive personnel as per relevant policies and procedures.
