Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Residential Manager Trainee is personnel supervision of staff and to provide training and supervision to individualsin the residentialsites underthe supervision ofthe ResidentialManger. The ResidentialManager Trainee is a member of the Treatment Team which evaluates, provides services for, and monitors progress of the individuals. The ResidentialManager Trainee is a professional position providing coordination of and instruction in habilitative programs which provides specialized daily living training, and assistance with training, as well as training on behavior management techniques. The Residential Manager Trainee is expected to be self-motivated to improve his/her knowledge of autism, observational communication, and teaching skills under the training and supervision of the Residential Manager.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

High School Diploma required. Prefer one or more years supervisory experience and/or college education. Four plus years experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Must possess a valid driver license. Must be able to stand, sit, walk, run, climb, bend, crouch, stoop, push, pull, twist, reach, lift, hear and see the individuals. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing the essential job duties. Ability to deal with stress and behaviors associated with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, which requires intense one on one contact and management. The ability to handle the individual’s behaviors (includingbut not limited to: scratching, pinching, kicking, biting, hitting, etc.) that are the result of their disabilities. These behaviors could be sexually offensive and possibly viewed by untrained people as sexually harassing. Ability to implement NCI procedures if necessary. If applicable be able to assist individual (up to 250 pounds) from floor position with other staff assistance. Regular and predictable attendance.

Essential Duties and Responibilities

1. Supervision and personnel management of staff (supervise, train, evaluate and disciplinary action). Review, approve, and

submit timesheets. Conduct staff meetings.

2. Assist with training direct care staff to perform assigned duties.

3. Assist with supervision of direct care staff documentation and implementation of training objectives and inform appropriate

staff of concerns.

4. Monitorstaff implementation of training objectives and behavior modification programs.

5. Review staff schedules and assure appropriate staff coverage. Assist with supervision on all shifts to monitor staff’s performances.

6. Assist individuals with shopping in the community; grocery, personal needs, etc.

7. Ensure individual training books are maintained and current.

8 Supervision of individuals and protection from hazards.

9. Ensure procedures are followed as needed for billing, censes, purchase orders and individual funds.

10. Ensure thatsites are maintained according to agency standards and any problems/issues are addressed.

11. Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators for service provisions to ensure that individual’s needs are met. Train and inform 

the appropriate staff of any deficiencies and how they should be corrected.

12. Participate on the Emergency Preparedness Team for operational emergenciesincluding but not limited to: natural disasters

and/or other conditionsthat would necessitate site evacuation.

13. Participate in ongoing training activitiesfor own professional development.

14. Adhere to HIPAA/Confidentiality compliance in allsites.

15. Ensure PIP Certification is maintained in order to provide PIP Training, Certification and Curriculum updatesto Professional

and Paraprofessionalstaff as needed.

16. Assist with the coordination of LME/State Qualify Reviews and Audit Procedures as warranted.

17. Perform other task/duties as assigned by supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer.

18. Communicate parental issues to the appropriate Treatment Team member.

19. Coordinate TL visits with family.

20. Ensure variety of appropriate leisure activities are present and assist Treatment Team with adapting to individual

functioning levels while implementing TEACCH philosophy.

21. Assesssitesto ensure appropriate décor and cleanliness.

22. Administer Basic First Aid/CPR to individuals if needed.

23. Complete site inspections and ensure remedial action is implemented.

24. Comply with policies and provide information or report/document needs, problems or violations of Policy immediately to supervisor.

25. Participate in and attend annual plans and other meetings as required.

26. Monitor and assist with general health services to include medication administration, recording health information, in'servicing staff on medication side effects, reviewing health issues to ensure appropriate follow-up. Monitor menus and

diets of individuals.

27. Work cooperatively and openly with supervisor, co-workers, parents, guardians, and other appropriate persons to ensure

that appropriate programs are implemented and needs are met.

28. Assure confidentiality of individual and personnel information.

29. Be familiar with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and standards in the following: MH/MR/SAS Licensure, OSHA, Wage

and Hour and other Documents and ensure facility is in compliance with Federal/State ICF/MR Regulations, Dept. of Labor,

N.C. Department of MH/MR/SAS rules, Building Code, Health Dept. (sanitation), Fire/Safety requirement.

30. Oversee the development and monitoring of individualschedules.

31. Encourage and maintain a positive work environment that promotesteamwork and staff involvement.

32. Be flexible in regard to work schedule.

33. Contact the appropriate personnel for maintenance and upkeep of the site.

34. Assist with investigate any policy violations and report to appropriate personnel.

35. Assist with providing training and disseminating information to family members as directed by the annual plan orsupervisor.

36. Ensure that individuals rights are always being implemented.

37. Assist with supervision and administer individual medications. Ensure that the medication closet is maintained in accordance

with GHA regulations

38. Assistindividuals with behaviors, learning good work skills, and other work-related issues(e.g., hygiene, appearance,staying

on work schedule, etc.).

39. Be present at site when consultants are performing site observations,survey arrives and other facility inspections.

40. Schedule and assist with individuals appointments for medical and other treatment servicessuch as initial visits to specialist,

emergency procedures, or any ongoing problematic medical issues for a particular individuals (i.e. seizures). Notify

supervisor of any significant issues.

41. Assist with surveys and observations and public activities and tours as warranted.

42. Provide weekly written updates on individuals to supervisor. Information should include any significant behavioral,

medical, health, family, or group home issues.

43. Supervise the care of and working with animals, as needed.

44. Conduct and document monthly fire drills and disaster drills on allshifts.

45. Complete and submit all forms as required.

46. Ensure that consultants receive needed data and training programsin a time frame specified by each consultant.

47. Other duties as assigned
