Contract | Nights, 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:00) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neonatal patients in a 5-bed Level II NICU, with a patient ratio of 1:2–3, caring for neonates 29 weeks gestational age and above
• Perform and assist with specialized neonatal procedures including needle aspiration, chest tube placement, UVC/UAC line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation, surfactant administration, resuscitation, and initiation of passive cooling
• Attend high-risk deliveries, catch newborns at delivery, and provide 1:1 recovery care of the newborn as needed
• Manage IV therapy including central line/implanted line care, UAC, and UVC; monitor blood glucose and implement isolation precautions as required
• Support well newborn assessments and procedures when NICU census is low; assist with stabilization and transfer of higher-acuity or lower-gestational-age newborns to higher-level facilities
• Fulfill on-call requirements (expected 24 hours per 6-week schedule period) and holiday/charge RN assignments as needed; float to well newborn nursery and postpartum as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license; both Kansas and Missouri licensure (or compact license covering both states) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience; first-time travelers not accepted
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Proficiency in Mother/Baby and NICU Level II work settings; experience with neonates 29–34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks gestational age
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• STABLE certification preferred
• Cross-training in postpartum/couplet care is preferred, though travelers are not required to take couplet assignments
• Experience attending deliveries and providing newborn recovery care
• Familiarity with telehealth-supported neonatologist consultation workflows
