Title of Position: Area Director of Operations

Job Responsibilities:

The Area Director of Operations position is responsible for overseeing all property operations at each hotel owned and or managed by the organization. This role requires the Area Director of Operations to provide coverage to the hotel in the absence of the General Manager and work with the General Manager and management team to ensure guest satisfaction, team member satisfaction and profitability of the hotel.

The Area Director of Operations must demonstrate and promote a 100 percent commitment to providing the best possible experience for our guests and team members while constantly striving for improvements in work processes and results to better meet client expectations.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership and direction for a specific hotel in the absence of the General Manager
• Develop a quick and accurate assessment about the overall health of an assigned hotel
• Coach and support property management and team members on the guest service culture
• Provide training to new General Managers entering into our organization and provide re-training to current General Managers
• Assist hotels with recruitment and training of team members and assist with any employee relation issues
• Perform duties in all aspects of hotel operations whenever needed
• Ensure property guest relation issues are resolved in a timely fashion
• Understand the rules and regulations of each brand and ensure all brand standards are being met and stay abreast of any changes coming to the brand
• Ensure the cleanliness and quality thresholds are being met for each hotel
• Monitor the brand website and various OTA sites for guest feedback and work with each General Manager to formulate corrective action plans
• Enforce company standards in hotels at all times and monitor the brands reward programs and make certain required thresholds are being met
• Evaluate the overall performance of each property and look for ways to streamline operations
• Work with the VP of Hotel Operations to develop policies and procedures to improve efficiency
• Participate in training programs offered by the brands and assist with facilitating managers meetings
• Monitor daily numbers for each hotel and look for any abnormalities or potential revenue losses
• Cultivate an environment where all team members respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics
• Assist with the opening of new hotels and acquisitions and assist with due diligence as needed

Qualifications:

• Extensive hotel operations knowledge required
• Minimum 2 years of General Manager experience in a branded select-service or focus-service hotel required
• Ability to read and interpret hotel financial reports including P and L, budgeting, and forecasting
• Computer skills, basic knowledge required including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Must maintain a valid drivers license with reliable transportation
• Must have the ability to travel for a varying amount of time, based on where the need is. Position is 75 percent travel
• Strong understanding of brand standards, QA, and guest satisfaction metrics
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop remote teams and manage multiple priorities
