Senior Software Engineer Java/Spring Boot/AI/Worcester, MA

Job Description
A growing software company focused on helping service-based businesses modernize their operations is hiring a Java Software Engineer to work on a core SaaS platform. The product helps organizations improve efficiency and scale by introducing intelligent, automation-driven workflows while preserving flexibility and autonomy.
You'll join a small engineering team responsible for building and scaling a customer-facing application. The team is actively exploring and integrating AI-driven capabilities, and this role offers the opportunity to work with modern backend, frontend, cloud, and emerging AI technologies. While experience with AI systems is a strong plus, the team is open to engineers with a solid Java background who are eager to gain deeper hands-on experience in this space.



Required Skills & Experience
Experience with Java and Spring Boot
Experience building applications with React or modern frontend frameworks
Experience working with AWS or cloud-based infrastructure
Exposure to Python or similar backend languages
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
2-6 years of professional software development experience

Preferred / Plus Experience
Experience working with AI or LLM-based applications
Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain or similar
Exposure to retrieval-based systems or AI-powered workflows
Interest in agent-based or automation-driven systems
Experience working on scalable SaaS platforms



What You Will Be Doing
Building and scaling backend services and APIs
Working across the stack to support new product features
Contributing to the development of AI-enabled functionality
Collaborating with a small team on system design and technical direction
Improving reliability, performance, and maintainability of the platform
