Job Description Opportunity WSP is seeking an Early Career Human Health Risk Assessor for our Chelmsford, Massachusetts office. The role involves working with the Earth & Environment Team, collaborating on projects with a variety of government and commercial clients, and contributing to risk assessment projects, project planning, public outreach, and stakeholder communication. Responsibilities Fully execute multimedia (air, water, soil, and biota) risk assessments. Prepare comprehensive risk assessment reports as a member of project‑specific teams. Extensively use Microsoft Excel to analyze chemical data and calculate human exposure risk. Learn and apply standard risk assessment spreadsheet tools. Understand regulatory and technical requirements for risk assessments under specific environmental programs. Document completed risk assessment activities, including data evaluation, selection of chemicals of potential concern, exposure assessment, toxicity assessment, and calculations of cancer risk and non‑cancer hazard (routine and non‑routine). Conduct quality assurance/quality control activities for colleague work products. Work within defined budget and schedule constraints. Contribute to proposal development to secure new work that includes risk assessment components. Assist in technical presentations or papers for publication. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Toxicology, Biology, Public Health, or a related scientific discipline. 0–1 year of relevant experience in human health risk assessment. Knowledge of scientific study principles and standards. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data presentation, calculations, and evaluation. Strong technical writing skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills and active listening. Ability to collaborate with teammates and work independently. Problem‑solving and troubleshooting aptitude. Excellent organization, prioritization, and timely delivery. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Toxicology, Biology, Public Health, or a related scientific discipline. Knowledge of human health risk assessment principles, procedures, and guidance, especially USEPA CERCLA and MCP. Experience with risk‑assessment‑specific tasks such as presentation of analytical data, dose‑response data, selection of chemicals of potential concern, calculation of exposure point concentrations (Excel or PRO UCL), and calculation of cancer risk and hazard index. Experience with per‑ and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Interest or experience in ecological risk assessment is a bonus.
